Community Care Day 2026: Free Haircuts and School Supplies

Back-to-school season comes with a long checklist. On Monday, August 10, The Twisted Willow Barbershop is helping Berea families cross off two of the biggest items: a fresh haircut and school supplies.

Community Care Day is a special back-to-school event for children in kindergarten through 12th grade. Families can stop by for free kids’ haircuts and school supplies, then enjoy refreshments, activities, and giveaways made possible by local community partners.

Community Care Day Event Details

• Time: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Location: The Twisted Willow Barbershop
• Address: 100 Clay Drive, Berea, KY 40403
• Who it is for: Children in kindergarten through 12th grade

This is a special Monday event. No appointment is required for an event haircut, but service will be provided in line order and families should plan for a possible wait during busy periods.

Free Back-to-School Haircuts for Kids K-12

A fresh haircut can make the first day of school feel different. It is one less task for a parent and a little more confidence for a child walking into a new classroom.

Haircuts will be free for K-12 students throughout the event. Because cuts will be handled in line order, arriving earlier may help families avoid the busiest part of the day.

Free Backpacks and School Supplies

Community Care Day will also provide backpacks with school supplies. Quantities are limited, so backpacks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please keep these guidelines in mind:

• Children must be present to receive a backpack.
• Each child may receive one backpack with supplies.
• Backpacks will not all be exactly the same.
• Styles and contents will vary based on the supplies available.

One Eyed Jacks Social: Free Popcorn for Families

One Eyed Jacks Social is serving free popcorn during Community Care Day. It gives kids and parents something to enjoy while they take part in the day’s haircuts, school-supply giveaway, activities, and other festivities.

New Heights Church: Free Popsicles for Kids

New Heights Church is serving free popsicles, a welcome way for kids to cool down during an August community event. Their support adds another free family-friendly treat to the day.

Ascend HVAC: Free Bottled Water

Ascend HVAC is providing free bottled water to help families stay hydrated throughout the event. With Community Care Day running from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, that practical contribution matters.

The Lemon 8 Stand: Lemonade That Supports More School Supplies

The Lemon 8 Stand will sell fresh-squeezed lemonade, with proceeds going back into the community to purchase more school supplies. Every lemonade purchase helps extend the back-to-school support beyond the supplies already collected.

RL’s Snack Shack: Food Available During the Event

RL’s Snack Shack will sell menu items during Community Care Day so families can purchase food without leaving the event. Their participation makes it easier for families planning to spend part of the day with us.

Popcorn from One Eyed Jacks Social, popsicles from New Heights Church, and bottled water from Ascend HVAC will be free. Lemonade from The Lemon 8 Stand and menu items from RL’s Snack Shack will be available for purchase.
