Community Care Day 2026: Thank You, Berea

On August 10, The Twisted Willow Barbershop was filled with fresh cuts, conversation, and the kind of energy that only happens when a community shows up for one another.

Community Care Day began with a simple goal: help Berea families head into the new school year with a little less stress and a little more confidence. Thanks to our neighbors, local businesses, volunteers, and team, the day became something even bigger: a celebration of what Berea can accomplish together.

A Shop Full of Fresh Starts

Inside the shop, our barbers welcomed K-12 students for free back-to-school haircuts. Chairs stayed busy as families visited, kids chose their new looks, and our team worked to help each student leave feeling ready for the first day of school.

A haircut may seem like one small item on a long back-to-school list, but it can make a real difference. We loved seeing the smiles, the before-and-after moments, and the confidence that came with every finished cut.

We are especially thankful to the parents and caregivers who spent part of their day with us. Your patience, encouragement, and kindness helped keep the shop welcoming even during the busiest moments.

The Celebration Continued Outside

The parking lot became a gathering place for families, vendors, and community organizations. Guests could grab food and refreshments, visit local booths, enjoy face painting, and spend time together while children explored the inflatables and activities.

The sunshine gave everyone a perfect reason to stay awhile. Kids played, neighbors caught up, and new connections were made throughout the day.

Community Care Day would not have been possible without the businesses and organizations that gave their time, resources, and support.

Thank you to One Eyed Jacks Social for popcorn, New Heights Church for popsicles, Ascend HVAC for bottled water, The Lemon 8 Stand for lemonade that helped support additional school supplies, and RL’s Snack Shack for serving families during the event.

The best part of Community Care Day was not any single attraction or giveaway. It was seeing neighbors connect, children have fun, and familiar faces welcome new ones.

To every volunteer, vendor, partner, team member, parent, and child who joined us: thank you. Whether you came for a haircut, picked up school supplies, supported a local vendor, brought the kids to play, or simply stopped by to say hello, you helped make the day special.

The Twisted Willow is proud to be part of Berea, and we are already looking forward to finding more ways to bring our community together.
